Hi
I was just wandering, in a world of supposed equality, why do women who are or want to be big and muscular looked on as freaks by some people when men who are bodybuilders are tended to be thought of as admired for their motivation?
Okay not saying some men don't look 'too big' aswell but they are more often than not accepted into the world of bodybuilding simply due to their gender, whereas women are told they either look 'gross' or are said to be 'too manly'!
Is this simply a 'what we feel men should be and what we feel women should be' scenario as it regards stereotypes we attach to each gender individually? Just because in the publics eyes a girl steps out of her 'stereotype' of being into girly things by having muscles,is this the sole reason they get negatively judged?
For the guys who hate it is it a jealousy issue resulting in a deflated ego if a girl is bigger than them or is it just because that girl is not fitting the typical female stereotypes?
What are your views?
In a world where now gay couples can marry, women are given more respect in terms of equality in maybe a predominantly male job field (politics for example) surely in 2007 people can see women have the right to be muscular if they so choose without the fear of being judged?
